Membership of the Society is open to all and accompanied children are welcome. No previous experience is necessary nor is it necessary to have any astronomical equipment. The annual membership is currently ten pounds payable the start of the season in September (or on joining thereafter). Attendance at the first meeting is free - simply turn up at a club night or an event and introduce yourself to any member who will be pleased to help. AAS meetings are held at Ayr Acadamy, Fort Street, Ayr, KA7 1HX, from 19:00 to 22:00 on the fourth Monday of each month from September to May. Meeting dates fior the current year are shown opposite >>>>

PLEASE NOTE THAT MEETINGS WILL BE ON THE FOURTH MONDAY OF THE MONTH FOR 2009/10. At each meeting there is "time for a chat" when members get together to discuss scopes, astronomy kit and star gazing or just catch up with the gossip. Members visit to Wigtonshire AS - November 2009
The Society has a several telescopes that are available on loan for the use of members. Training and guidance is provided on how to use the telescopes. The loan of equipment is subject to conditions that include minimum periods of membership of the Society |
30th August 2009 Dean Castle Country Park The Provost of East Ayrshire, Stephanie Young, meets the President of the Society at the reconvened Dean Castle Country Park Classic Car Show and Craft Fair.
